Biography: Simon Posford a.k.a Hallucinogen is an undeniable genius. He is probably one of the most innovative artist in the Psy-trance and ambient music genre. His unique, unpretentious style has been influenced by many generations of music lovers coming from his own home. Simon showed an inclination towards music at the early age of seven, when he taught himself how to play the piano. He has been a part of numerous bands, playing bass, drums and the guitar, working his way up as an artist by doing tape operation for Virgin studios. Within a few years he learned the craft of engineering and moved on to work with Youth, who was setting up Butterfly studios in Brixton. There he scored a record deal for his then ambient band "Purple Om". By the time the album was completed, they had spent 120,000 pounds on its making and could no longer afford to release it, inducing Purple Om to be dropped. Meanwhile the conception of Hallucinogen had already begun. In 1992, Simon began creating trance inspired by "The Age of Love" track by Jam n Spoon on a savage acid attack. His initial attempts created "LSD" and "Solstice", tracks that altered the direction of Goatrance forever. Hallucinogens first album "Twisted", released in 1995 on Dragonfly was without a doubt the reason for Simon becoming a household name amongst partygoers. Almost two years later, he dazzled us with his second album "Lone Deranger" released on his own label, Twisted . Even more arranged and composed than his first album, "The Lone Deranger" is still one of the most worked Goa albums till date. Moving along Simons road to success was DMT inspired Sphongle, an ambient production with close friend Raja Ram. Sphongle, although not his first attempt at ambient, has along with Hallucinogen become Simons interpretation of psychedelic music. Together they have produced two albums "Are you Sphongled?" and "Tales of Inexpressible" released in 1998 and 2001 on Twisted records. Being a hyperactive prodigy, Simon has his fingers in a score of other pies. Although some of these collaborations have not seen releases in some time, traces of his psychedelically "twisted" style can be found under names such as Anubis with Chris Dekker of the Medicine Drum, Beast with Sean Williams of Process (best known for the classic track "In Trouble"), Binah with Slinky wizard and Jewel, Infernal machine with Dick Trevor, Mystery of the Yeti formed by Raja Ram with Total Eclipse, Doof and Process, Nomads of Dub with Nick Barber of Doof, Psykov with Yakov Biton of Spiral Active, Sukhba with Shaeldon Isaacs, Younger Brother with Benji Vaughan of Prometheus and finally "Walter Ego", Simons alternate solo project.
